Scene 1
[Camera pans around a quiet street, the camera then zooms in on a bedroom window where we see a younger Gel pass by with a one towel wrapped around her and another towel wrapped around her head.]
(Camera cuts inside the room to show Gel dancing around the room while Christmas music blasts from her CD Player. Gel leaves the room and another girl enters, it’s a younger Luna who is dressed in a long black ball gown with a silver middle section.)
Luna: (calls out) Come on Gel!
Gel OV: Alright…so how do I look?
(Camera pans around to show Gel standing in the doorway in a pink dress which puffs out, her hair is curled and rests on her shoulder)
Luna: Oh wow Gel!
Gel: (Grins) Eeeek tell me about it!
(The two best friends embrace each others and squeal with excitement. Gel breaks away and stands in front of her large mirror, she picks up a gold mask from her dressing table and hold it up to her face)
Gel: Gel you will go to the ball!
(Luna steps back into the scene holding a Silver mask up to her face and smiles at her best friend)
Luna: When Phoenix sees you…he is going to drop dead!
Gel: (Sighs) He doesn’t even know who I am!
Luna: By the end of the night he will!
(Camera cuts to the hallway as we watch the two girls descend down the staircase, we see a old looking man waiting at the bottom of the stairs with tears in his eyes)
Dad: OH Gel, if your mum could see you know…she would be soo proud!
Gel: (blushes) Thanks dad
(Gel leans into her dad as he wraps arms around her)
Dad: Now go before you miss it all…and girls enjoy yourselves
Gel: (smiles) See you later dad!
[Gel and Luna leave the house as the camera fades out to black]
Scene 2
[Camera fades in from black to show a large hall, loud music blasts through the hall and groups of teenagers sit around round tables with blue and silver balloons fall onto the dance hall. Camera zooms in on the doorway as Gel, Luna and a couple of their friends enter the room. Teachers and helpers stand around the room all wearing mouth and nose masks]
Gel: OH MY GOD…
Luna: (Cuts in) This is just…
Gel: AMAZING
(The small group place on their masks before they make their way towards the drink table, a couple of the girls break away from the group as they spot other friends. Luna suddenly places a hand on Gel’s back and smiles to her friend)
Luna: Phoenix has just walked in!
(Gel slowly turns around to see Phoenix and another young guy dressed in matching suits and silver masks enter the dance hall, the both scan the room before heading off towards an empty table)
Gel: He is amazing!
[Luna laughs as the two of them collect drinks for the table, the camera cuts to black]
Scene 3
[Camera zooms in on the table which Phoenix and Apollo have taken seats at. Phoenix is sat by himself and he is watching a group of girls dancing and he can’t help but smile. Apollo returns to the table holding to cups of drink, he places them on the table before retaking his seat]
Apollo: (Smiles) Having fun!
Phoenix: Hmm
Apollo: (rolls his eyes) So who has taken your fancy tonight then Phoenix
Phoenix: (Smiles) Girl in the pink dress…do you know her?
Apollo: (Shrugs) No idea…I really don’t recognise her!
Phoenix: (Smirks) Good…I’m going to ask her to dance.
(Apollo lets his head drop onto the table as he lets out a sigh)
Apollo: Oh Boy!
(Phoenix pushes himself up and slowly makes his way slowly across the dance floor until he reaches the group of girls. He goes past the other girls until he is standing in front of the unknown girl)
Phoenix: (smiles) Fancy a dance
[Gel simply nods as she takes Phoenix outstretched hand and he leads her away from the group to an empty space on the dance floor, camera slowly fades out to black]
Scene 4
[Camera fades back in from black to show Gel and Phoenix slowly dancing in the middle of the room on their own.]
Phoenix: Have we spoken before? Gel: I don’t think so no… Phoenix: but you go to my school? Gel: (Laughs) Yes!
(Phoenix frowns in frustration as he tries to work out something inside this head)
Phoenix: So how come we have never talked before
Gel: (shrugs) Maybe cause you haven’t been looking for me before?
Phoenix: (Smiles) Yea maybe…
(Gel rests her head on his shoulder as they continue to dance slowly in circles, Gel pulls away as he studies Gel’s masked face)
Phoenix: If only this wasn’t a masked Christmas ball
Gel: (Smiles) Then it would only be half the fun!
(With a smirk Gel pulls away from the dance and heads away from the dance floor, Phoenix studies her before he follows her.)
[Camera cuts to black on the now empty dance floor]
Scene 5
[Camera fades back in from black to show Gel sitting on the steps outside the school as snow falls around them, she brings her knee’s up to her chest as Phoenix takes a seat next to her, he removes his jacket and places it over Gel’s shoulders, who smiles in return]
Phoenix: (looks up) I still can’t believe its snowing
Gel: (Smiles) First time for everything!
(the two look to the road as an ambulance races past with its alarm blaring out and lights flashing)
Gel: (Looks down) Do you think its someone with the virus
Phoenix: (Nods) Most likely…it always is these days
Gel: it just makes you…
(Before Gel is able to finish what she is saying, Phoenix presses himself against her and brushes his lips against her)
Phoenix: (whispers) I’ve wanted to do this all night
Gel: But…
(Phoenix gently presses his lips against hers again and the two strangers share their first kiss. As the kiss deepens, Gel’s phone starts to ring from inside her bag. Gel pulls away from the kiss and pulls her phone out)
Gel: Hello…
(Camera zooms in on Gel as she listens to the other person on the phone)
Gel: Ok thank you…bye!
(Gel places her phone back into her bag before she stands up, Phoenix follows suit)
Phoenix: You ok?
Gel: (shakes her head) No I got to go…my dad….he has the virus!
Phoenix: I’m sorry…
(Gel shakes her head as she turns to leave, she pulls her mask off and lets it drop to the floor as she runs down the street)
[Camera zooms in on Phoenix as he bends down and picks up the gold mask. Camera then slowly zooms in on the gold mask before fading to black]
[End credits cut in]
